The Poetry of Resilience: Honoring Zapotec Agency with Fundación En Vía

Agency is the Anthem

We don’t document poverty; we document potential. In the Tlacolula Valley, the alchemy of ancient Zapotec tradition meets the precision of modern micro-finance. Through our partnership with Fundación En Vía, we capture the rhythmic heartbeat of economic resilience. Proving that when you invest in a woman’s agency, you fuel an entire community’s future.

Fundación En Via

  • The Three Pillars. En Vía is a women-only microfinance and education program built on three interconnected pillars: Microfinance, Education, and Responsible Tourism. Since 2008, we have worked with approximately 200 women across 7 communities to build sustainable livelihoods that strengthen families and preserve Zapotec culture.

  • Removing the Barrier of Debt. Traditional microfinance in rural areas often carries high interest rates due to operational costs. En Vía changes the system by providing interest-free loans. By using 100% of tour proceeds and donations to fund these loans, we ensure that entrepreneurs can invest directly in raw materials and business growth without the burden of debt.

  • A System, Not a Handout. Tours and donations are not separate from our mission. They are part of the empowerment process. This "Circular Path" keeps resources moving, supporting nearly 7,000 loans to date. It is a system where small, consistent decisions by women entrepreneurs lead to long-term community resilience.
